Business Days Calculator
Count the working days between two dates, or add business days to a date. Weekends and US federal holidays are skipped automatically.
US federal holidays in 2026
These are the observed dates, the days federal offices close. There are 250 business days in 2026. Banks follow the Federal Reserve schedule, which stays open on the Friday before a Saturday holiday, so bank business days can differ by one. See federal holidays 2026 and 2027 for business days per month.

How business days are counted
Counting starts on the day after the start date and includes the end date, the same way most payment terms, shipping estimates and legal deadlines work. From a Monday to the following Monday is 5 business days.
- “Without weekends” countdowns. To see how many working days are left until a date, such as a last day at work or a project deadline, keep today as the start date and choose the end date.
- Shipping and refunds. “5–7 business days” starts the day after the order ships or the refund is issued. Use “Add business days” to get the latest expected date.
- State and company holidays. Some states add their own holidays, such as Cesar Chavez Day or Patriots’ Day, and many companies close the day after Thanksgiving. If yours does, add those days on top.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a business day?
Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. In the US that usually means skipping the 11 federal holidays, which is this calculator’s default. Banks follow the Federal Reserve’s holiday schedule, which is almost the same (see below).
Is the start date counted?
Not by default. Like most deadlines, the count starts the day after the start date and includes the end date. Tick “Count the start date too” if your rule counts both.
How many business days are in 2026?
250 business days, after taking out weekends and the 11 US federal holidays observed in 2026.
What if a holiday falls on a weekend?
For federal employees, a Saturday holiday is observed on the Friday before and a Sunday holiday on the Monday after, and the calculator skips that observed day. Banks differ slightly: the Federal Reserve does not close on the Friday before a Saturday holiday (for example, Friday, July 3, 2026 is a normal banking day), but it does close on the Monday after a Sunday holiday.
How many business days until a date?
Leave the start date as today and pick the end date. The result is the number of working days left, skipping weekends and US federal holidays.
